چکیده

The vast majority of recent advances in the field of numerical radiative transfer relies on approximate operator methods better known in astrophysics as Accelerated Lambda-Iteration (ALI). A superior class of iterative schemes, in term of rates of convergence, such as Gauss-Seidel and Successive Overrelaxation methods were therefore quite naturally introduced in the field of radiative transfer by Trujillo Bueno & Fabiani Bendicho[1]; it was thoroughly described for the non–LTE two-level atom case. We describe hereafter in details how such methods can be generalized when dealing with non–LTE unpolarised radiation transfer with multilevel atomic models, in monodimensional geometry.

Fast 2D non–LTE radiative modelling of prominences I. Numerical methods and benchmark results

Context. New high-resolution spectropolarimetric observations of solar prominences require improved radiative modelling capabilities in order to take into account both multi-dimensional – at least 2D – geometry and complex atomic models. Aims. This makes necessary the use of very fast numerical schemes for the resolution of 2D non–LTE radiative transfer problems considering freestanding and ill...

A Fast Multilevel Algorithm for the Solution of Nonlinear Systems of Conductive-Radiative Heat Transfer Equations in Two Space Dimensions

In this paper we describe a fast multilevel algorithm for the solution of a system of nonlinear integrodifferential equations that model steady-state combined conductive-radiative heat transfer in two space dimensions. This extends our previous work in one space dimension. We formulate the equations as a compact fixed point problem with the temperature as the unknown. The fixed point map requir...

Very Efficient Methods for Multilevel Radiative Transfer in Atomic and Molecular Lines

The development of fast numerical methods for multilevel radiative transfer (RT) applications often leads to important breakthroughs in astrophysics, because they allow the investigation of problems that could not be properly tackled using the methods previously available. Probably, the most familiar example is the so-called Multilevel Accelerated Λ-Iteration (MALI) technique of Rybicki & Humme...

Radiative heat transfer: many-body effects

Heat transfer by electromagnetic radiation is one of the common methods of energy transfer between objects. Using the fluctuation-dissipation theorem, we have studied the effect of particle arrangement in the transmission of radiative heat in many-body systems. In order to show the effect of the structure morphology on the collective properties, the radiative heat transfer is studied and the re...

Heat Transfer Study of Convective-Radiative Fin under the influence of Magnetic Field using Legendre Wavelet Collocation Method

The development and production of high performance equipment necessitate the use of passive cooling technology. In this paper, heat transfer study of convective-radiative straight fin with temperature-dependent thermal conductivity under the influence of magnetic field is carried out using Legendre wavelet collocation method. The numerical solution is used to investigate the effects of magnetic...
